GREAT Britain coach Peter Russell says spirits are high ahead of their World Championship campaign.

Britain begin their Division 1B schedule against Croatia today (12.30pm) before facing Estonia (Tuesday), Korea (Thursday), hosts Netherlands (Saturday) and Lithuania next Sunday.

They warmed up for the tournament - Russell's first in charge - with two wins over Poland last week.

Meanwhile net minder and Swindon Wildcats head coach Stevie Lyle today becomes only the 6th player in Great Britain ice hockey history to win a 70th full cap for GB today.

After their first practice session, Russell said: "It wasn't anything too dramatic and stressful but it was good to blow the cobwebs off after a travel day.

"The boys are in good spirits and there were lots of smiles on the ice.

"We go into this week on the back of the two wins over Poland, so we have prepared in the best way possible.

"We are focused and determined and we will now rest up in preparation for tomorrow's morning training session ahead of our first game."
