SWINDON Wildcats head coach Stevie Lyle is predicting that there could be as many as eight new faces in his final 2015/16 roster.
The new Link Centre boss has been busy overseeing his recruitment drive during the closed season but thus far, veteran D-man Neil Liddiard is the only confirmed signing who wasn’t pulling on a red and white Wildcats jersey last term.
Last weekend, Swindon revealed that Adam Harding had signed a one-year deal to return to the club next season, whilst captain Jan Kostal, Tomasz Malasinksi, Aaron Nell, Steve Whitfield and youth products Michael Stratford and Toms Rutkis have all already put pen to paper.
Lyle says that shaping his squad has proved far from straightforward but he’s satisfied with how things are coming together.
“It can be a bit difficult at times because you’ve got other places like Guildford and Telford and you have to convince people why they should come to Swindon,” said the Wildcats player/coach.
“There are a few that you try and get involved but they get away at the last minute. That’s just the way it is. Sometimes you have to go to your Plan B or C if Plan A doesn’t work out.
“I’ve got a team in my mind and we’re getting there. There are two new faces that should be coming in and I think we could end up with about eight new guys in total.”
