AARON Nell admits Swindon Wildcats are still not firing on all cylinders in the wake of their 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Guildford Flames.

After taking over as head coach over the summer, Stevie Lyle brought nine new faces to the Link Centre for the 2015-16 English Premier League campaign.

The Cats have been the definition of inconsistent so far term with three wins and three defeats from their six fixtures and forward Nell concedes the bedding in process is still not complete.

“It’s going to take a while, there was an awful lot of change,” said Nell.

“We’ve had some good games and some very bad games. It’s about by the end of the year making sure we have more good ones than bad ones because we know if we have a good night we are going to win.

“The likes of Sami (Rhyanen) and Miroslav (Zalesak) are very good players but they are adjusting. It’s a very different league to what they have played in before.

“Once every so often it ends up being perfect for a new player coming in but more often than not it’s going to take time.

“They are very experienced players and very good players and they are going to come good in the end.”

Nell shouldered some of the responsibility for the defeat the Spectrum as the Cats failed to make the most of a dominant first period.

Flames snuck into the locker room with a slender 1-0 advantage and from there simply left the visitors trailing in their wake.

“Against Guildford you can’t play a period like that and not score. They got a nice goal but if they go in from that period 1-0 up, they are going to win the game,” said Nell.

“We had a lot of chances, I had the best chance and I have got to score. If I score then it’s a completely different game.

“The first period we were great but I also think we lost the game in that period by not scoring. We had plenty of chances and people like myself have to put those chances away.”
