TWENTY legends in the world of ice hockey will be coming back to Swindon in December to help celebrate the club’s 30th anniversary.

To mark the occaision the club are having a weekend of events, which will conclude in a legends match on Sunday 11 December.

The Wildcats were formed back in 1986 current general manager Steve Nell and the 49-year-old says he is surprised the Link Centre side have managed to get this far.

“We can’t quite believe that the Wildcats have made it 30 years, we are one of the longest running clubs in the UK and have seen some amazing players come and go over the years,” said Nell. “That said, they have remained friends and many are coming back to help us celebrate.”

The first part of the celebrations is an event being held on Friday, December 9 at the Campanile Hotel in Swindon.

Fans of will be given the chance to hear stories from some of their favourite players over the years and get the opportunity to ask them questions.

Already confirmed for the evening are Brian Larkin, Lipsey, Gareth Endicott, Ian Richards, Richie Howe to name a few.

Current Wildcats players will also be taking a seat at the event too.

“Tickets are limited to this adults only event so we are urging fans to go to the Wildcats website and get them before they run out.” Added Nell.

Then on Sunday, December 11, ice hockey legends from across the UK will be back on the Ice to challenge the current Wildcats.

Former Cats skipper Shane Moore, Euan Forsyth, Steve Moria, Ryan Aldridge and Alan Armour are confirmed.

Current player-head coach Aaron Nell insists everyone will be taking the game very seriously when they get on the ice.

“This is a grudge match that fans won’t want to miss, the last time the Legends played the current Wildcats team was back in 2011 it was a draw,” said Aaron Nell “Neither team wants a draw this time and it’s up to us, the current Wildcats team to show the Legends – or old boys as we are calling them in the changing room, that we will win."
