MANY OF Swindon ice hockey’s most famous faces will be back at the Link Centre for a fundraising match on Sunday (face-off 4.15pm).

Former club imports Daryl LIpsey, Bryan Larkin and Steve Moria are among those returning for a special match against the recreational team, Swindon Panthers, to raise funds for the children’s playroom at the Great Western Hospital.

The trio will ice alongside other former favourites, such as legendary netminder Joe Dunn, ex-captain Lee Elliott and former coach Richie Howe, who guided the Swindon club to their win in the Autumn Trophy at Sheffield.

Neil Browne, Rusty O'Donovan, Ian Richards, Alan Armour, Andy McGurke and Darren Liffen are mong the others taking part.

Tickets are on sale for the match, priced at £5 for adults with accompanied children under 16 free and £2 for unaccompanied children. These can be purchased prior to the game by contacting Rusty via e-mail dampcureuk@fsmail.net.

Alternatively they will be available on the door, along with raffle tickets. A pre-match social evening will be held at the Nine Elms pub on Saturday where fans will have the chance to catch up with some of their former favourites.

  • Businesses will have the chance to see their company’s logo emblazoned on the front of this year’s Wildcats’ jerseys, by paying £200 plus V.A.T. to enter a draw.

Half of the money raised will itself be donated to the Wildcats in the Community scheme, which allows up to 500 children a week to participate in the Learn to Skate programme with players and coaches from the side.

General Manager Steve Nell commented: “While we are looking for support by local businesses we also want to offer something back in terms of promotions and to the community.”
