MATT Foord says the Wildcats have the tools to beat any side in the English Premier League - but they will not do it unless they maintain belief in themselves.

The wing, who signed for the Link Centre outfit from Bracknell Bees in the summer, was mortified to see his former club slam seven goals past his new side last Sunday to end Swindon’s run of four consecutive wins.

And, ahead of this weekend’s double header against Basingstoke (Saturday 5.45pm) and Peterborough away (Sunday 5.30pm), Foord admitted: “We seem to be hit and miss.

“If we play for 60 minutes we can beat anyone, but we just seem to have these lapses in concentration during games.

“Maybe we hit the panic button and before we know it the game is out of reach.

“But if we believe in ourselves I don’t think there’s a team in the league we can’t beat.

“Once we play for 60 minutes and start believing in ourselves, then we’re definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with.”

Tomorrow’s clash with Basingstoke is sure to be a sizzling encounter with Wildcats player-coach Ryan Aldridge taking on his former club.

The club have also announced that they expect to have two new faces making their blue-line debuts, should they rush the necessary paperwork through on time.

Foord added: “In a local derby there’s always a little bit more added pressure and added spice. I really like the challenge of playing in these games.

“It’s going to be tough because they have got a lot of experience and are solid everywhere on the ice.

“But we’ve had a good week of practice and spirits are quite high.”

Cats are expected to be without influential defenceman Jan Krajicek tomorrow, who has been player of the match in three of his last four appearances for the club.

The defenceman is still recovering from the injury he sustained after he was clattered into by Jon Sitko last weekend, while forward Gareth Endicott is doubtful with a leg injury and Dylan Row has been released.

Basingstoke’s roster is a mixture of seasoned pros and breakthrough Brits, including the likes of Lithuanian international Mindy Kieras and the ever-influential Nicky Chinn.

Much is expected of Ollie Bronnimann, who made the switch from nearby Guildford over the summer, while veteran ex-Wildcat Steve Moria makes a return to the Link Centre.
