SWINDON are hoping to send out a ‘massive’ statement to other clubs in the league as they look to make it two wins from two this weekend.

Sean Lynn’s men began their South West One East campaign last weekend with a controlling 35-13 bonus-point victory over Grove.

Swindon will now travel to league newcomers Leighton Buzzard, who beat Reading 13-26 in their opening fixture, on Saturday.

Despite not knowing a lot about the opposition Lynn is hoping to secure a second win and says his team will be full of confidence going into the tie.

“We’re going to be looking good after a big win against Grove on Saturday, I would have taken that last week before the game,” he said.

“It is a massive marker for us to win this game because we won our first game so convincingly.

“Leighton are a new team but they must have something about them to beat Reading but we will be looking to go there for the win.

“I think when you are playing a team who are new it is about having a lot of trust in your own game.

“I am hoping we’ll start the game well and then we’ll see what changes need to be made as the game unfolds.”

Tries from Tom Mannion, Paul Daniels, Adam Westall and Ollie Willson secured maximum points for the home side, with Westall, who has moved to number 15 this season, completing the scoring with his boot.

Scrum-half Connal Knott has said the team will not take Buzzard for granted.

“They got promoted last season but came across so we don’t know what to expect from them,” he said.

“They beat Reading on the opening day so they will have something about them.

“We will approach it the same as any other game, not knowing a lot about the opposition doesn’t really change anything for us – we have to do what we do.”
