SUPERMARINE have had a tough start to life back in the Southern Counties South but head coach Sean Millwaters is confident that his team are more than capable of holding their own.
The task in hand for Millwaters’ squad does not get any easier this weekend as they head to leaders Swanage and Wareham tomorrow.
Despite not winning any of their opening four league games, Supermarine do not sit bottom of the league as two bonus points have them perched just above Bradford on Avon and Midsomer Norton.
The South Marston outfit are yet to play any of the teams that sit in the bottom five in the league and Millwaters knows that that is when they will need to pick up points.
“Swanage are top of the league, however they haven’t been hammering teams,” he said.
“We have three or four players unavailable which is probably going to hurt us a lot as well, so that doesn’t make our task any easier.
“All we can do is work hard and go into Saturday with the right attitude. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this kind of match.
“As I said at the beginning of the season, our aim is to consolidate in the league.
“When we came up a couple of years ago, I don’t think we were ready because of the style of rugby in this league but now we are a much better side and the scores are probably flattering the opposition.
“We always knew that getting through this part of the season was going to be difficult.
“But we have a good run before Christmas and that is when we will start to know more where we are.”
