SUPERMARINE have had a tough start to life in the Southern Counties South but that could change this weekend.

Sean Millwaters’ side face second from bottom Bradford on Avon, for whom former England captain Lewis Moody is director of rugby and who only sit above Supermarine on points difference.

Since the beginning of the season Millwaters and his team have always eyed this game as a must-win and they will go into it like a cup-final and hope a win could kick-start their season.

“We’re starting to look forward to the next few weeks now,” said Millwaters.

“I would say the game is the crunch game. I think if we can get it right this week it will roll on then maybe we can get some momentum going up to Christmas.

“Out of five games they are all going to be hard games and we’re not saying these teams are not going to be hard games, but I would say we are more on a level playing field with them.

“I think the key thing is we played Bradford twice last year we lost by one point in one game and three points in the other.

“So I think Saturday is going to come down to who dominates the breakdown and who wants it, who really wants to stay in this league.”

Meanwhile, Swindon College Old Boys will be full of confidence after booking their place in the 1st XV Vase final last weekend, and will be looking to keep their good form going when they place fellow unbeaten side Reading Abbey in the Berks Bucks & Oxon Premier Division this weekend.

“Reading Abbey came down with us last season and currently sit one point above us and top of our league, and both team are unbeaten so this is another huge game,” said head coach Mark Lea.

“We expect Reading to run the ball wide so we need to stop relying on our – albeit excellent – drift defence and defend that little bit wider.

“We will also have to show the same in your face rugby that has served us well so far this season.”

Elsewhere Royal Wootton Bassett will be taking on Wallingford in Southern Counties North at Ballard’s Ash.
