SWINDON head coach Sean Lynn was impressed by his side’s show of discipline in their 14-8 South West 1 East success over Newbury Blues.
The Greenbridge Road outfit had to withstand immense pressure from their visitors in the dying stages of the match to make it four wins in a row.
“The discipline was outstanding but the defence was too,” Lynn said.
“Last year, we weretit-for-tat in scoring and this year we have tightened up our defence and it was great to see that work at the weekend.
“The boys are showing great maturity too. Ben Saville led from the front. Dave Cox was impressive.
“Connal Knott is a key player for us at nine and Paul Daniels is showing his maturity in the back row.”
Swindon found themselves trailing 8-7 at the interval after skipper and fly-half Adam Westall converted his own try.
Having played against the strong wind in the opening 40 minutes, the hosts had the elements at their backs after the break and saw Nathan Seymour go over for a converted score.
“It was tough in the first half with the wind but we knew that it would be the same for them in the second,” Lynn said.
“I knew that it was going to be a tough game as well because I was very impressed with Newbury when we went there earlier in the season.”
