SUPERMARINE head coach Sean Millwaters said there was still scope for improvement after a crushing opening day win over Trowbridge seconds.

Having failed to record a win in their 22 games in Southern Counties South last season, Millwaters’ side soon put that right as they started life in Dorset & Wilts One North with a 79-0 win.

“You’ve got to score the points but we have also got to put it into perspective that they are not a very good team,” said Millwaters.

“At the end of the day you have got to play the rugby and you have got to score the points and we did play very well.

“They had a big pack and we just moved them around and after 20 minutes I think they had run out of steam.

“I think a one stage we had five or six 19-year-olds or below on the pitch and they all played very well.

“We came down from a league above and we probably played rugby at the pace of the league above.

“We were doing to Trowbridge what teams did to us last year.”

Meanwhile, Swindon College Old Boys began life in Southern Counties North with a narrow 14-5 defeat at Beaconsfield.

Jack Kimber got the only try for the visitors, with Charlie Grabe seeing an effort ruled out when he was adjudged to have been in touch.

“It was a game we should have won,” said head coach Mark Lea. “A try that was disallowed for no good reason and injuries before the start hampered us.

“The lads left the game knowing we can compete at that level.”
