SKIPPER Adam Westall says Swindon must look to match their impressive start to the season at home with valuable away wins as they prepare to go on the road for the first time in 2015-16.

Swindon have kicked off the South West One East campaign in flying form, claiming victories over Windsor and Trowbridge at Greenbridge Road – the latter an emphatic 10-try romp.

Sean Lynn’s side now travel to High Wycombe on Saturday full of confidence and Westall wants Swindon to be just as dominant in away games as they are in front of their own fans if they are to make a serious impact this term.

“We are very cautious just to look at the next game in front of us,” said fly-half Westall.

“Windsor was a great result, they’ve never beaten us at home before so we weren’t expecting to lose that one and were confident, and Trowbridge again was a game we thought we could win.

“We have got to go on the road now and that has always been our Achilles heel. We will see then how we have progressed over the summer.

“It’s about trying to translate our home form onto the road.

“It’s just another set of sticks and a green pitch with some white marks on it so it shouldn’t really matter where we go to play it.

“For our boys, it really is the top two per cent that counts. We just need to knuckle down and not enjoy the beer before we have got there, so to speak.”

Their heroics against Trowbridge saw Swindon take their try tally to 13 for the season already and Westall believes they have the quality at their disposal to cause any opposition a headache.

“With our back-line we can be a handful for any team,” said Westall, who believes Swindon’s form in the winter months will decide what they are capable of.

“There’s a lot of experience there. There’s some quality lads as well as some local boys and that blend has been a work in progress over three years.

“It’s not just happened overnight but we think we are kind of getting there now.

“The wet will dictate how we play later on. We’ve got to adapt to that and we hope we can do that.”
