ALAN Low knows Royal Wootton Bassett must be at their sharpest if they are to return to winning ways against Devizes tomorrow.

Bassett saw their run of 11-straight wins ended two weeks ago when they were beaten 5-3 by second-placed Midsomer Norton.

The Ballard's Ash outfit now play host to fifth-placed Devizes and having lost 67-10 in the Dorset & Wiltshire Cup back in October, Bassett carried out their revenge a month later when they completed a 22-8 victory, but that cup exit is still a sore spot for Low and his team.

“We’re expecting a really tough game again, as they always are against Devizes,” he said.

“That cup game at the start of the year is obviously still ringing in the ears of a lot of the boys.

“It was nice to go over at the start of the year and to come back with a result, and we will be looking to do the same again.

“Devizes’ results have been a little bit up and down and they have had issues with injuries and unavailabilities, like everyone else.

“When they get their strongest side out and they click, then they are top-two material and we have got to get our game right.”

Tim Timani and Nick Parker are back in contention for selection following last weekend’s break and Low is still looking for his side to carry out a complete performance at home.

“We’re just waiting for that one performance where everything clicks at home,” he added.

“Last year, our home performances were fantastic and it is our away performances this year that have been really good.

“Whether that is a bit of complacency creeping in or it is just one of those bits, we have got to recognise and get on with.

“We’ll be out of the blocks and we’ll be looking to go as hard as we can from the off and set the tempo early doors.”
