PRIOR Park School in Cricklade hosted a Tag Rugby tournament held at Prior Park School last Saturday, attended by former Bristol and England full-back Paul Hull.
Cricklade Rugby Club and the nearby school have been running rugby sessions on Saturday mornings since last October, targeted towards local children at ages 5-7.
The five-team tournament was also attended and supported by Minety Rugby Club, but it was Cricklade’s first step into minis rugby, with the club struggling with facilities at its Fairview Fields ground.
Assisted by Prior Park Head of Sport James Barton they have been able to achieve this, the scheme has offered the chance to play rugby for local children and the club aims to broaden it next year, again in partnership with Prior Park, extending it to Under 8s from September.
For more information on how to get your child involved, contact the club via the website pitchero.com/clubs/cricklade/contact/ or Daniel Lloyd 07979 864279.
