RUGBYTHERE is no chance of complacency creeping into Swindon College Old Boys’ game when they travel to Didcot this weekend, according to director of rugby Martin Lloyd.

Unbeaten College are sitting pretty at the top of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon table, a position aided by the fact that Didcot suffered a first defeat of the campaign last time out.

Although their opponents may have seen their spirits dented following a 34-7 drubbing at the hands of Abingdon, Lloyd insists his troops won’t be setting off on the road thinking a fifth consecutive win is already assured.

“That result was a real shock as we beat Abingdon really comfortably earlier in the year. We were expecting them to come out with a big score so it certainly raised a few eyebrows,” said Lloyd.

“But we don’t know what’s happened in that game, whether they were missing players or whatever, and you don’t become a poor team overnight so we expect a tough game.

“With ourselves top of the league, they will want to get their teeth into us. At this stage of the season, defeats can be costly later down the line and if you get two on the bounce, it can really effect you, so they will want to avoid that.”

Elsewhere, Supermarine face a stiff task when they go in search of just their second win of the season in Dorset & Wilts One North as they are on the road at third-placed Bradford on Avon.
