DESPITE wrapping up the Berks/Buck & Oxon Premier Division title last week, Martin Lloyd doesn’t want to see a dip in performance from Swindon College Old Boys when they host Risborough tomorrow.

Lloyd’s troops were 35-7 winners earlier in the season, but believes his side still have a point to prove against the league strugglers, who lost for the 14th time as they fell 43-17 at home to Abingdon last weekend.

“It is one of those games that we want to put right,” he said.

“At Risborough, we struggled because we were down on numbers. We had a couple of yellow cards and a red card and we didn’t play well.

“It was a wet day and it was just one of those games but we won comfortably in the end.”

Lloyd now plans on using the remainder of the season’s fixtures to put ideas into practice ahead of next season.

“We are looking forward to welcoming them down to our place and trying new things,” said Lloyd.

“We’re absolutely aware of what is going to happen next season when we do step up.

“We have been trying a few things for the start of next season and that causes a little bit of a problem with fluency.

“The repetition in competition makes a big difference and that is what we are working on.”

“The important thing is the guys keep the attitude and the determination to play well and stick to their processes,” added Lloyd “It is very easy, and it happened a few years ago, for a team to take their foot off of the pedal a little bit and that is what you can’t afford to do.

“You start getting sloppy and make simple mistakes. We have to make sure the attitude is absolutely right and we need to be ruthless with it really.”
