SWINDON are hitting a purple patch just at the right time, according to head coach Sean Lynn as he prepares his side to continue their fight against relegation at Banbury this weekend.

The Greenbridge Road side have had an uncharacteristic season this term as they have struggled near the foot of South West One East.

However, five wins in their last six outings have seen them create a four-point gap between themselves and the bottom two.

“It is some good form at the right time,” said Lynn. “Those are the games we targeted. The games we picked out, we are getting points from.

“We are in a much stronger position than we were a couple of weeks ago. It’s always nicer to be looking down the league rather than looking up but I just think it shows credit to the standard of the league.”

Swindon travel to a Banbury side who are fresh off a defeat to Royal Wootton Bassett and Lynn added: “They are a good outfit. We have just got to go from here and see if we can get a win from that and if not, hopefully get something to take back home.

“They lost to Bassett last weekend and most teams are fallible. You only need to look at Newbury beating Old Pats last weekend, which has really opened the whole league up.”

Lynn believes the recent battle to stave off the drop has brought his side closer and claims he now has the strongest side he has coached at Greenbridge Road.

“I’m very pleased with the way the players are reacting to the relegation battle,” he added.

“I’ve got to be honest, since I have been at Swindon, this is probably our strongest squad that we have had, as in the close-knit way the boys are.

“It’s really brought the boys together and they are working hard for each other.”
