DISCIPLINE, discipline, discipline. For all their improvement over the last few months, that is one area Neil Loader would dearly love his Swindon team to brush up.

Loader’s men host Grove at Greenbridge Road in Southern Counties North tomorrow, and the memory of the sides’ previous meeting in October still rankles with the head coach, after a succession of silly second-half penalties gifted Grove a 39-24 win he feels they never should have had.

And the former Rugby Parma boss has seen his side make similar mistakes in subsequent matches, a pattern he is keen to eliminate.

“We lost that game but we should have been out of sight by half time, and then we gave away too many penalties in the second half,” he said.

“We’ve been the better side in all the games we’ve lost this season, we’ve just let ourselves down in disciplinary areas.

“The Grove game was discipline, Aylesbury was discipline and against Milton Keynes we didn’t look after the ball well enough.

“They have improved massively since the Grove game but it’s still an area we need to continuously work on. But I think we’ve got potentially a stronger side than we took to Grove.”

Swindon have bolstered their ranks this week with the signing of utility back Ben Loosemore, who has played at a higher level with Cleve and also for the University of Bath.

Centre Paul Wakefield will be moved out to the wing in a tactical switch and fly-half Connal Knott is back from a shoulder injury.

The talismanic Adam Westall is still out (collarbone) and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks.

Swindon have won seven out of seven games at home this season and have not conceded a single point in either of their last two outings on home turf.

“We’re playing well at home and not conceding many,” added Loader.

“We always try to keep teams to zero but it will be tough against Grove.

“I never fear anyone in this league, the only thing I fear is what Swindon team is going to turn up on the day.”

Elsewhere in the division, Wootton Bassett make the trip to Beaconsfield.

Meanwhile, in Dorset & Wilts 1 North, midtable Minety host Sutton Benger, while Fairford visit Pewsey Vale and bottom side Cricklade welcome Chippenham 2nds.
