SEAN Millwaters says the lowly league position of Wootton Bassett 2nds is not a factor that fills his Supermarine side with confidence, insisting a tough test will be in the offing from the Dorset & Wilts 1 North second-stringers.

On paper Supermarine are by far the stronger outfit this season, having collected nine wins out of 13 in contrast to Bassett’s two out of 11, but player-coach Millwaters has revealed both he and his men will be taking nothing for granted on their away trip tomorrow.

“They have struggled a bit but they won their last game (against Pewsey Vale) and are gradually getting better,” explained Millwaters.

“It’s a club on the whole that’s doing well and when you play a second team it’s very hard to know what standard it’s going to be, so I think we’ve got to go in expecting a hard game and concentrate on playing our rugby.

“We have to make it that they have to deal with our rugby, rather than the other way round.”

There are fitness doubts over two Supermarine players ahead of tomorrow’s game, those being centre Matt Dickens and prop Bill Burton.

Elsewhere, Swindon College Old Boys visit Stow-on-the-Wold in the Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier, their hosts having previously failed to win on their own turf in five attempts.

Forwards Liam Popowicz and James Murray will play no part for Old Boys but they are boosted by the return of their regular number eight Head coach Luke Wills said: “It’s been consistent in terms of selection for the last few weeks and we’re expecting a good result.

“We feel we’re competitive with anyone in the league at the moment.”
