KYLE Howarth says the likes of Hans Andersen and Troy Batchelor are helping him to boost his points-scoring power at Swindon.

The 19-year-old has only turned out three times in Robins kevlars since being brought in to replace Kacper Gomolski, but he has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with from the reserve spot.

Top-scoring with 12 on his debut at Belle Vue, Howarth could only manage two paid three against visitors Wolverhampton but roared straight back with nine paid 10 at Lakeside.

And the youngster, who also features for Workington in the Premier League, says the senior riders at the Abbey Stadium have played an important role in his positive form so far.

“The likes of Hans (Andersen) and Batch (Troy Batchelor) help out the younger riders like myself and they tell us where we’re going right and wrong,” said Howarth.

“Being able to learn about track craft off guys like that who are at the top is a bonus, and they are also good on helping out with setups as well.

“They show you where you can go better and that’s the good thing about having such good riders in your team.

“There’s a lot of strong riders here and even if you have one bad ride, someone else can make up for it, although of course you never want to rely on that.”

Howarth also revealed that the team spirit in the pits at Blunsdon has also helped to bring the best out of him on the track.

“It’s been good at Swindon so far, I just want to keep these scores coming in and it’s been great being in such a good team,” he said.

“Everyone gets on and we have a laugh. I’m just enjoying my speedway at the moment and that’s the main thing.

“I’d love to score well every week but I know that is going to be hard and I’m certainly not going to go into every meeting saying I’m going to score 12.

“If I can just be consistent and keep enjoying it, then I will be quite happy with that.”

The Robins make the trip to Monmore Green tomorrow for a top-of-the-table Elite League clash against a Wolverhampton side that have drafted in guest Peter Karlsson in place of Freddie Lindgren.

“It’s never easy going to Wolves because they are good at home and have got so many good riders,” said Howarth.

“If we can hit them hard early on, hopefully we can have a good meeting. Peter Karlsson is a good rider but we’re good enough to win.”
