TEAM boss Alun Rossiter says he’ll resist that temptation to take a front row seat as the Swindon Robins’ Elite League play-off rivals attempt to pip his team to a top-four finish.

The Robins, who brought the curtain down on their regular season with a losing point at Belle Vue on Wednesday night, are now forced to play the waiting game as the Coventry Bees and Eastbourne Eagles look to claw their way past Swindon in an end-of-season fixture rush.

Rossiter’s men are currently third in the table and the play-off picture is set to become a lot clearer by the end of tomorrow night, with the Bees and the Eagles taking each other on twice in a double-header at the Brandon Stadium.

But the Abbey Stadium chief insists that he’ll be putting his feet up, rather than taking a front-row seat as Coventry and Eastbourne go head-to-head.

“No. I’ll stay at home. You get enough speedway meetings in the year,” said Rossiter.

“We’ll be fine. We may have a practice (between now and the end of the season) – I don’t know.

“We’ll have a discussion with Terry and Ronnie (Russell) and maybe have a day at the Abbey before the play-offs.”

Coventry are just four points behind the Robins and have five fixtures to complete whilst Eastbourne, who are nine behind Swindon, have four meetings on their calendar, with another double-header at Belle Vue on the cards following their back-to-back clashes with the Bees.

Rossiter is hopeful that his side have done enough to still be in the top four come the end of the month.

He said: “We’ll have to just wait and see. Eastbourne got beat (on Wednesday) and they’ve got Coventry Friday night and then they’ve got Belle Vue.

“They’re not really good travellers, so we’ll just have to wait and see but I’m not predicting anything because anything can happen in speedway.

“But I’m hoping, fingers crossed, play-offs here we come.”

Meanwhile, Swindon have confirmed that this year’s Bob Kilby memorial meeting will take place on Thursday October 23.

In honour of the legendary former Robins rider, Swindon will take on a Bob Kilby select side, managed by his son Lee, in a 13-heat showpiece, followed by a series of second-half races and a Grand Final to decide the rider of the night.
