SWINDON Robins’ new co-promoter Colin Pratt is looking forward to being back involved with speedway after taking a two year break from the sport.

Former Great Britain and Coventry chief Pratt worked closely with team manager Alun Rossiter at Coventry during their title winning season in 2010 and was announced as a replacement for Pete Toogood last Friday.

Pratt left the Coventry Bees’ management team in 2012 after a 15-year stint at the club and had to deal with losing his wife earlier this year, but still managed to watch Swindon last season when they visited the Brandon Stadium.

The appointment was a quick one with Pratt only meeting team owner Terry Russell and Rossiter last Wednesday but he is looking forward to working closely with Rossiter over the winter to ensure that the Robins are in a good place come the start of next season.

“I am very pleased with the appointment, I’ve known the whole of the Swindon management for some time,” said Pratt.

“I suppose it is now just a catch up time after being out for a couple of years.

“I hope to work more with Rosco, like I did at Coventry, and take care of a lot of admin stuff while he does the team managing.

“I’ll be working with Rosco on all aspects of the team and team signings.

“I see Swindon the odd time when they come to Coventry because I was helping out with Coventry when they were having problems with the track.

“I did come down to Swindon once as well, a lot of the staff are there from years ago when Mike Broadbank first signed and I’d come down as a young lad, so a lot of it is not unfamiliar to me.

“I am hoping it will work out well.”
