ALUN Rossiter says Swindon Robins youngster Kyle Howarth must use a breakthrough week in speedway to take his racing to the next level.

Howarth produced a solid evening’s work at last night’s British Final in Wolverhampton, but his hopes of following up his British Under 21 Championship success with more glory were hampered badly by a fall in his fourth race.

That meant he was unable to progress to the latter stages of the competition after finishing with eight points from five rides at Monmore Green as Great Britain captain Tai Woffinden stormed to a third title in a row.

The night capped a very productive eight days for Howarth, who earned his first senior GB call-up for last week’s World Cup campaign where he acted as a reserve in both Thursday’s race-off and SWC event two last Monday.

Robins and GB boss Rossiter says Howarth should be proud off his efforts in the Midlands but needs to make the most of the experience he has garnered of late.

“That fall in his fourth race cost him. He knew he had to get a couple of points there but he just caught it wrong and it really messed him up in the end, sadly,” said Rossiter.

“He settled down after the first race and I think he did alright overall.

“Everybody is up for this now, it’s a proper British final and everyone wants to be in it. Everyone has got that goal of being at the Grand Prix in Cardiff and you can see what it means to people.

“Kyle will have learned from this week and hopefully he can use that to take it to the next level.

“He’s learned a lot from Tai (Woffinden) over the week. They’ve been together and there has been quite a bit of banter going on. It’s been really good for him.”
