SWINDON Robins team boss Alun Rossiter says he may have to start looking for a permanent solution to the ongoing problem of their number one position after this evening’s Elite League clash against Belle Vue Aces.

Adrian Miedzinksi has not ridden for the Robins since a heavy fall in the opening fixture of the season left him requiring surgery on an injured hand. The Pole has since returned to riding for Torun in his homeland but has so far put off a comeback for Swindon.

Peter Kildemand was drafted in as a temporary replacement but a series of issues meant the Danish star appeared in just two of nine scheduled meetings.

Poole Pirates’ former Robin Dakota North will guest for Swindon against the Aces at the Abbey Stadium tonight but Rossiter hopes to find a more stable resolution to the issue in the near future.

"I’m going to speak to Adrian. We need to be making a decision on what we want to do sometime soon," said Rossiter.

"If it’s going to be an ongoing thing, then we might have to start looking elsewhere.

"We will wait until after Thursday. After then, a new set of averages will be out, so there’s no point trying to do something until we know what we have got to work with.

"We’re in a tough position against Belle Vue. We were very limited with what we could do. We can’t use Adrian’s high average and Peter’s average has dropped.

"But Dak did a job for us last time and he’s got a good record at Blunsdon, so I’m sure he will do well again."

Nick Morris filled in as number one in the Robins’ last meeting against Coventry Bees on May 26, with Australian countryman North stepping into his usual number three spot.

Rossiter had planned to switch the positions of number two Kyle Howarth and number four Grzegorz Zengota for the cancelled clash against Wolverhampton Wolves on June 1 but that will not be the case as they look to trump the Aces.

"We will just do the same as what we did last time. I’ve got every confidence in Nick going back out at number one," said Rossiter.

"Away from home at the technical tracks, I think maybe switching Kyle and Zengi might work but I’m happy with the order at home.

Reserve Charles Wright will also be away on Premier League duty with the Somerset Rebels and Rossiter has kept it in the family in his search for a guest, drafting in Charles' brother James Wright.

Tonight’s fixture marks the Robins’ return following a lengthy break for the Speedway World Cup and Rossiter is hungry to get back to it.

"It’s been about three weeks without a meeting so we need get the ball rolling again now,” he said. "Belle Vue started the season a bit slow but they've hit a bit of form."
