CZECH youngster Eduard Krcmar is hoping for a fast start to his Swindon Robins career.

With the arrival of Darcy Ward, Robins team boss Alun Rossiter was left having to rejig the rest of his septet, with the 19-year-old coming in at the expense of Kyle Howarth.

Krcmar joined up with the rest of his teammates at a practice day at the Abbey Stadium yesterday, and said he could not refuse the offer of riding in the Elite League.

"Obviously I was very pleased to have an offer from an Elite League Club, in the form of Swindon and I will try and do my best." he said.

"I want to score as many points as I can for the team, not just me.

"At first I was not aiming for England, but the offer I had from Swindon I could not turn down, and I thought it would be the best for my career and my future to join the club.

"I was first told it was too soon for me to go to England, because I am only 19, so I waited and if an opportunity came then I would jump for it.

"Obviously the tracks in England are a bit smaller than what I am used to in Europe, but there are smaller tracks in England than Swindon.

"The track is not bad, just more behind the corners, but after my first race I will just try to improve more so I can be quicker and get the best results I can.

"In my practice, I did about 15 laps, and the track at Swindon is very well prepared and I like it already, and I will try some changes as the practice goes on to see if I can go faster."

However, Rossiter has tried to take the pressure off the young rider, who top-scored with nine points for his country at the Speedway World Cup Event 2 at Vastervik last year.

"I mean fans can't expect too much," said Rossiter.

"We were limited with our points limit, but he is a rider I have been keeping tabs on.

"He had a good World Cup last year, not so good this year, but he is a pretty steady rider.

"If he scores four points a meeting I will be more than happy."
