FORMER Swindon Robins skipper Troy Batchelor has signed for Elite League rivals King’s Lynn Stars ahead of the new season.

Australian Batchelor has spent the last four seasons at the Abbey Stadium and helped the Robins win the league title back in 2012.

However, team boss Alun Rossiter decided not to bring him back to Blunsdon for the 2016 campaign and his Stars counterpart Rob Lyon was quick to swoop for Batchelor’s services.

The 28-year-old rode for King’s Lynn from 2005-06 and was part of the club’s famous treble-winning side that claimed the Premier League, Knockout Cup and Premier Trophy.

Lyon said: “Troy is, of course, no stranger to me or the club. I am delighted he will be coming back to us next season.

“He is an accomplished rider that will bring a lot to the team, on and off the track. Troy is a character and I believe we need that, we missed a bit of personality in the team last year, especially after Rory Schlein’s injury.”

“On the track he has the ability to win meetings. Over the years as a visiting rider he has been excellent and we want to see him winning plenty of races at the Adrian Flux Arena next year.”
