SWINDON Robins have confirmed that their first home Elite League fixture of the 2016 season will be on Easter Sunday, with champions Poole Pirates the visitors.
The 5pm match will come two days after the Robins begin their campaign on the south coast against the Pirates, which will have a midday start.
Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: “We’ve done the home and away double-header on the same day with Poole in the past, but there were several reasons why we felt moving the home match to the Sunday was best.
“One big factor was that Swindon Town have a televised home game against Wigan at 5.30 on the Friday, so we really didn’t want to clash with that.
“Running our home meeting on Easter Sunday means all the riders will be available, and we actually did something similar last year when we were rained-off on the Friday evening.
“We moved to Easter Monday and had a good crowd for it, although obviously this year we’ll be hoping not to have the sort of bad luck we had in that meeting.”
