JOSH Grajczonek says there is no chance fellow Swindon Robins new boy Rohan Tungate will be slow out of the traps this season.

Tungate was the final addition to the Robins’ septet for the 2016 Elite League campaign, with Alun Rossiter only adding him to the team as late as last month following Dakota North’s decision to remain at home in Australia.

Grajczonek and Tungate are likely to become something of a double act this year, they started 2016 racing against each other in the Australian Championships but will now be team-mates on two fronts as they will both also ride for Somerset Rebels.

Two other Aussies – Jason Doyle and Justin Sedgmen – have also arrived at the Abbey this season to join Nick Morris and take the Robins’ recruits from Down Under to five.

For Tungate and Sedgmen, it is their first Elite League call-ups for some time but Gracjzonek is sure they will make the grade.

“Rohan came in pretty late but he still knew what was going on because we were unsure what was going to happen with Dak,” said Gracjzonek.

“It’s a shame that Dak’s not here, but Rohan proved at the Aussie title that he’s got what it takes. He’s stepped it up the last few years and he’s ready to double up in the Elite League.

“He’s missed that opportunity in the Elite the last couple of years but I think he could be a key man, along with Sedgy.

“Sedgy’s had a real good year last year with Edinburgh and he did pretty well in the Aussies too.

“Those boys at two and four; it’s going to be good because they’ve got no pressure on themselves. They can just find their feet and I think they’ll come up trumps.

“I think they’ll make that step up pretty soon. Sedgy’s been knocking on the door for a couple of years and he had two or three really good years at Edinburgh, and I was a bit surprised that he wasn’t riding in the Elite League last year.”
