JASON Doyle has called on his Swindon Robins side to start gelling on the track after another testing week.

The Abbey Stadium skipper top-scored with 14 points during the Robins' 48-44 defeat to Wolverhampton Wolves on Thursday night.

The Aussie number one, who claimed 15 points on his return to Leicester Lions 24 hours in a 50-42 loss, says his side have got plenty more to show, with their only success in four meetings coming against Coventry Bees.

“We are gelling. There is no problem in the camp, but aren’t gelling on the track,” the 30-year-old said.

“Either one (of us) fires and the others struggle or, as we have seen the other week at Swindon (in the 55-35 win over the Bees), we all fired and absolutely annihilated the team.

“We need to have a steady average – we need to work something out.”

The Australian international also said that Alun Rossiter’s men cannot allow other teams to build such commanding leads if they are to get back on track – starting with next Thursday's visit from Belle Vue Aces.

“(Against Leicester) we left it too late,” he said. “We needed to be really close to them by heat 10 and give a bit of pressure.

“They didn’t have any pressure the whole match and that made it easy for them. There was no stress.

“I think that we need to get an early lead and try and get pressure off us.”

Prior to this week’s double-header, the Robins had not ridden for a fortnight due to the inclement weather.

But Doyle says that his team must do more during these enforced breaks if they are not to get caught cold again.

“It wasn’t just us who had the two-week break. I know that some of the boys in Leicester had two-week break,” he said. “We need to be on top of this if we are not going to be riding for two weeks.

"We have to go and find a practice track.

“There are a few riders in our team who need to be riding as much as possible to make them ready.”
