The season is not that old and we have had three rain-offs already.

I think three of our first five were called off and that’s frustrating for riders as you just want to race as often as you can.

You are never going to lose those meetings because they will always be re-arranged for later in the year but when you are not riding, you are not getting paid.

At the start of the season, you spend a lot of money on bikes and equipment and everything, and if you are not racing at the start of the year, then you are losing money.

Whether or not the British season should start a bit later is a hard one to say.

I was talking about it the other day and if we’d actually started the season a bit early – say in early March – we’d probably have got a lot more meetings done because we only really had one very bad day for the rain in March, which unfortunately was our home meeting with Poole.

If the season was pushed back to start later, then I think it would have to be planned a bit better because there would still end up being some rain-offs anyway – that’s inevitable.

Maybe they’d have to plan for two meetings a week to get them all in. I don’t know what the answer is.

I’m not a promoter. It’s their money and they can do it how they like but if they thought that was best, then I’m sure they’d be doing that already.

In Europe, I’ve had a few rain-offs as well. I just haven’t had many meetings and that’s frustrating.

I have been going to the gym a lot and doing other things that you don’t really want to do, like sorting out my workshop.

I’ve moved down from Edinburgh for this season, so it has given me a bit of time to get everything organised, which is good, but you’d obviously much rather be out there racing.
