SWINDON Robins riders Nick Morris and Rohan Tungate have seen their hopes of competing in the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season ended after they failed to progress from the first qualifying event in Slangerup on Saturday.
The Australian pairing travelled to Denmark hoping to mount a strong challenge for a place in next year’s World Championship but failed to make the cut against a strong field.
Morris scored five points from his five rides to finish in 12th place, whilst Tungate ended 15th with two points.
Grand Prix star Bartosz Zmarzlik stormed to victory in the meeting ahead of Mikkel Bech and Timo Lahti.
Great Britain ace Chris Harris and former Robins’ rider Eduard Krcmar also failed to progress.
