SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter insists his side must make the play-offs as a bare minimum requirement after their start to the campaign.

The Robins sit third in the Elite League table having completed exactly half of their season quota, picking up 25 points along the way.

They sit three points off leaders Lakeside, who have ridden one meeting more, with Wolverhampton Wolves splitting the pair, level on points with the leaders with three meetings in hand.

Having got off to a slow start, picking up just one win in their opening four outings, Swindon went on a run of six meetings unbeaten, which included two wins and a draw on the road to lift them to the summit.

Last week Swindon returned to earth with a bump as they lost three meetings on the bounce before stemming the tide with a two-point victory away to bottom-of-the-league Leicester Lions.

Rossiter’s side are now enjoying a 12-day break from action and Blunsdon chief knows that his side must keep on improving if they are to remain in the play-off picture, especially in the middle order.

“We have got to get in the play-offs,” he said, taking stock at the halfway stage of the season.

“We just need to make sure the boys, Nick (Morris), Justin (Sedgmen), Josh (Gracjzonek) and Rohan (Tungate) are starting to pile in with a few more points and a little bit more consistency.

“In fairness to Justin, I said that he would have a good year this year but not much is expected from him, however, I am expecting a little bit more from Nick and Josh and also Rohan.

“We have got to make sure we get something at Lakeside next Friday and make sure we win at home on the Thursday.”
