EVERYONE in the Swindon team seems to be riding well at the moment and that can only bode well for us for the rest of the season.

Both myself and Rohan Tungate have been picking up some decent points in the two and four positions, although I am not sure if we will be there for much longer with the new rules that have come in this season.

We have no meetings this week but if I find myself back at number five when we return to action next week, it won’t be a problem for me – I approach every meeting the same wherever I am riding.

It can be a bit strange heading to a meeting not sure of where you will be in the order but moving up or down doesn’t really affect me because I go in with the same mentality every time.

To be honest, I don’t really care what the rule is. I have no control over it – it’s just up to the powers that be. If you start thinking about what the rules are, then you are not thinking about your riding, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

If I am number five next week then great, I want to be at number five, I want to be one of the top riders for the team.

Some people look at that position as more difficult because you are in tougher races against better riders but I want to be out there racing those tougher guys and beating those guys. I’ve done it before so I want to keep doing it.

Every rider should want to end up as the number one in their team one day but I think a few people think about the heat leader positions too much and worry about them and the pressure that comes with it. Then when they get the opportunity to ride there, they don’t grab it with both hands.

Rosco sent me out in heat 15 in our home meeting against Coventry last Monday and for me to end up winning that heat felt really good.

I want to be in a position when the team are sending me out in heat 15 to try to get a victory to win the meeting overall.

Although the result was already in the bag that night, getting a win in heat 15 – which is usually the toughest one of the night – is a real confidence booster moving forward.
