SWINDON Robins skipper Jason Doyle heads into the 200th Speedway Grand Prix tonight in red-hot form after scoring a sensational 17 points to fire Rospiggarna into the Swedish Elitserien play-off final.

That follows the Australian’s 11-point haul in his last outing for Swindon last Thursday as they hunt a place in the Elite League play-offs, as well as his second GP success of the season in Poland a fortnight ago.

The victory in Poland saw Doyle climb up to second in the world championship standings and he is now just seven points behind leader Greg Hancock going into the German SGP in Teterow this evening.

Doyle is the only rider to claim multiple GP wins so far in 2016, with the 30-year-old having also triumphed in the Czech Republic back in late June.

Meanwhile, reigning world champion Tai Woffinden has played down the hand injury he sustained while riding for Wolverhampton Wolves on Monday.

Doyle’s win in Poland pushed the British rider down to third in the current standings, eight points behind leader Hancock, but he does not foresee his Wolves crash holding him back in Germany.

“I had a crash and was a bit uncomfortable but that’s all I can say about it really. I’ve got nothing more to say about the injury,” Woffinden told speedwaygp.com.

“I’ve been there before and done some laps and it’s a nice little track. I like it. I’m looking forward to going back there and I’m sure it will be a good meeting.

"I’ve just got to go and continue giving it my best and see where that gets me.

“I’ve had some good results recently and I’ve been pretty happy with my form in the Grand Prix. The big challenge is staying at that level.”
