AUSTRALIAN Nick Morris is excited to be returning to his ‘home-from-home’ next season after penning a new deal with Swindon Robins.

The 22-year-old first signed for the Robins in 2012 and is looking forward to returning for a sixth season at the Abbey Stadium.

However, Morris admits that last season, where he ended the campaign with an average of 6.41, did not go to plan.

Having returned home for the winter, he is keen to ensure he has as many rides under his belt for next season, having already agreed to join an as-yet named Danish side and looking for a Polish team, having decided not to return to Sparta Wroclaw.

“Hopefully I will do a bit more racing and have a better year,” he told the Adver.

“I had a couple of weeks off a lot during the season when a lot of the other boys were still racing so that hurt me.

“It was just like starting afresh every time you go to a meeting, it doesn’t come natural and you have to think about everything.

“When you are racing a few times a week, you just go to the track and get on your bike and it is like second nature and it all happens easier.

“It takes you half of the meeting to get sorted, sometimes everything will be alright - you will have the set-up straight away but then other times it is not as good.

“When you have got the other guys racing all week, it is hard to be on par with them.

“I have been busy in previous seasons and I know it played a part last year and we are looking to fix that next season.”

With Swindon’s new stadium expected to be opened next June, work having started earlier this month, Morris says it is an exciting time to be at the club and it wasn’t a difficult decision to commit to another year.

“I’ve been with Swindon for a while now and it is kind of like my second home,” he added.

“The stadium looks like it is going ahead next year so that will be exciting for everyone. It will be cool to have a new track and new stadium and do things a little bit different.

“The club has always been good to me and I have got no reason to change.

“I live in Swindon, my workshop is in Swindon, the new stadium is going to be massive and that is a game changer.

“Why would I want to leave when we have got that to come?”
