ADAM Ellis knows he has a point to prove as he looks set to return to the Swindon Robins line-up to face former side Poole Pirates tomorrow.

Just a week after suffering a broken scaphoid in his first home meeting as a Robin, the 21-year-old was back on the bike on Thursday in practice and reported no ill-effects.

It is an injury Ellis has suffered before, with the young Brit requiring a cast for eight weeks, but it appears to have healed quicker this time around and he is relishing the chance to return against his old employees at the Abbey Stadium.

“It’s pretty good,” he told the Adver.

“It’s healing a lot better than I thought it would and it feels a million times better than it did a week ago.

“I went out for a ride (on Thursday) and it’s not hurting any more than what it was before, it’s just aching a bit and it was a lot more comfortable.

“I haven’t really done much in the last week, just been resting it.

“It was also good getting some practice in after a pretty dreadful start to the year.

“Life at Swindon hasn’t really started off the best and the injury could be a good thing because it means I have had a week off and some time to think about stuff and change some things on the bike because they are not really going how I wanted them to.

“At the moment, Swindon have been pretty strong with the rider replacement, so I am going to have to come back and score some points.”

Having lost their opening two fixtures of the season, Alun Rossiter’s side have bounced back with back-to-back wins over Rye House Rockets in the Premiership Knockout Cup to boost morale.

However, Abbey Stadium chief Alun Rossiter knows his side are in for a stern test when they return to league action tomorrow.

“They’re one of our biggest rivals and one that we always want to beat,” said Rossiter.

“They set the benchmark in fairness. Matt (Ford) always puts a good team together. I don’t think they’re as good as they have been but that is when they are likely to bounce.

“You have to be careful because (Brady) Kurtz goes well round here. We have to make sure we keep chipping away and get those points.

“With Nicolai Klindt there as a reserve they have an ace.

“They are pretty strong all the way through, I don’t know who is in and who is out.

“Our boys will find it tough against him but I’m sure our boys will pick up their game against them.”
