SWINDON Robins slumped to a fourth defeat on the bounce as they succumb to King’s Lynn Stars 52-41 on the road.

Despite a Nick Morris scoring 14 at the Adrian Flux Arena, it was not enough to drag his side to a first victory since beating Poole Pirates at the start of May, on a night where skipper Jason Doyle had a fall in his last outing.

The result leaves Swindon struggling in the SGB Premiership but team manager Alun Rossiter is not hitting the panic button just yet.

“We need to be a bit more consistent,” he said.

“Adam (Ellis) got seven and David (Bellego) got three, if we could have got them both scoring, it could have been the difference.

“It is certainly a big improvement from Adam.

“He has brought another engine over, on top of this new engine he has got and hopefully this is going to be the turning point for him.

“David had never been to the place before and it is always difficult then but in the end we got close again.

“We keep relying on Jason and Nick at the moment and your luck is going to run out at some point unfortunately."

Swindon were dealt a blow before the meeting with Dany Gappmaier, who had claimed his first heat win in the Robins’ last outing at Wolverhampton Wolves, was ruled out having suffered a back injury riding for Championship side Berwick Bandits.

He was replaced by Workington Comets’ James Sarjeant at number six, while King’s Lynn had a change of their own as club asset Simon Lambert signed this week as a replacement for Josh Bailey, who is taking time out of the sport.

With a delay to the meeting because of the setting sun, Doyle, who won the toss, got the first win of the meeting for a share of the points in heat one.

With a further delay before heat two as the sun was blinding the riders, it was a perfect return to the Adrian Flux Arena for Lambert as he controlled heat two from the front to lead home a first maximum.

Ellis came out on top of heat three as he picked up where he left off at the European Pairs to claim Swindon’s first heat advantage.

Morris kept the deficit to just two with a win in heat four after a nice move underneath Lambert, before Doyle hauled the visitors back level a race later.

Holder and Morris were neck-and-neck going into bend one but the Stars man was braver and came out ahead to spark a run of heat advantages for the hosts.

With Bellego starting off a 15-metre handicap in heat seven, Ellis flew out of the start but was soon chased down by Kai Huckenbeck and Robert Lambert for a second maximum.

Wilson-Dean fought back well to second place in heat eight but fell on the penultimate lap to see King’s Lynn stretch their advantage to eight points.

Reserve Huckenbeck was called in to replace Nick Porsing in heat nine, with King’s Lynn number three having not scored, but was left watching as Morris beat Batchelor to the finish line.

When Holder and Lewis Rose extended the advantage to 12 points in heat 10, Swindon were firmly on the back foot.

As a result, Doyle was handed the tactical ride in heat 11 and got away well to claim a 7-2 heat win.

Porsing was able to end a poor meeting on a high as he won heat 11, with Sarjeant ending without a point to his name.

However, Swindon look set for a maximum to put themselves back in the meet in heat 13, but then Doyle hit the fence in bend four of the last lap.

The Swindon skipper was soon back on his feet, if a bit shaken.

Simon Lambert got to the first bend in the lead in heat 14, with Batchelor taking to the front down the back straight, but Bellego kept the King’s Lynn duo honest and makes a dart for second place at the line.

Doyle was not deemed fit enough for heat 15 as Ellis marked his turnaround with a last heat appearance, but failed to feature as Morris led from the gate to record an impressive personal total of 14 points, but it was not enough to prevent the defeat.
