SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter has urged his riders to take any team alteration decisions out of his hands by improving their own performances.

Rossiter has already made one change to his original 2017 septet, bringing in Austrian Dany Gappmaier to replace Denmark’s Emil Grondal at reserve last month, and the Robins boss has not ruled out recruiting further new faces as he looks to turn around his side’s form.

Swindon have lost each of their last five fixtures in the SGB Premiership and fallen to second from bottom in the table, while they are still yet to break their home duck in the league ahead of Rye House Rockets’ visit to the Abbey Stadium on Thursday.

The Robins have not raced since going down 52-41 at King’s Lynn Stars on May 31, with Rossiter resisting the urge to make any additional team changes until the next set of averages are released later this month.

Rossiter says it is up to his riders to prove they are worthy of a place in his team and is particularly keen to see more support for his star Australian pairing of Jason Doyle and Nick Morris from the likes of Adam Ellis and David Bellego.

“We just need the boys to pick their game up. That makes my job a lot easier, it’s as simple as that,” said Rossiter.

“That’s what I need and everybody needs to see it, especially the supporters. The supporters are the ones that are getting frustrated and I can understand it.

“We will just have to wait and see what happens with the averages and go from there. Obviously whatever decision I make isn’t going to be easy but we will just have to see how it goes.

“We need to start scoring and we need to be a bit more consistent. We need to give Jason and Nick some help. That’s always been the case and we need to make sure that we do that.

“If Adam, David, Nick and Jason score their points, it makes life a lot easier then. It takes the pressure off Nick and Jason and will help them do what they do best.”

Bradley Wilson-Dean was left battered and bruised following two falls while competing at a Grand Prix qualifier last Monday but he has since ridden for Peterborough Panthers in the SGB Championship so Rossiter expects to have a clean bill of health for Thursday’s clash against Rye House.

He said: “I’m led to believe that Bradley had a bit of a bash out in Germany but I think everyone is fine and we will be all good for the next meeting.”
