SWINDON Robins will once again have to wait to get the start of their SGB Premiership title defence under way after tonight’s meeting away at Wolverhampton Wolves was postponed.

With wet weather looming over the Midlands, officials at Wolverhampton have opted to call-off the fixture.

A statement on Wolves’ website said: “Wolverhampton have reluctantly postponed tonight’s Premiership meeting with Swindon.

“Club management have studied various forecasts and all the information suggests rain is coming in this afternoon and will last throughout the evening.

“The decision has been made in the best interests of all parties to minimise inconvenience and everyone is frustrated with the early season weather.”

Tonight’s fixture is the fourth call-off for the Robins already this season, with their scheduled Premiership opener at home to Leicester Lions on March 29 falling foul of the weather, as were the home and away Knockout Cup matches against Rye House Rockets on Easter Monday.

Swindon will hope to begin their campaign on Thursday in that rescheduled meeting against Leicester at the Abbey Stadium.

This evening’s proposed fixture against Wolves has been re-arranged to take place at Monmore Green on Monday, July 16.
