ALUN Rossiter insists Mads Korneliussen still has a future at the Abbey Stadium, despite axing the popular Dane from his 2009 Robins line-up.

Rosco broke the news to a disappointed Korneliussen yesterday, when the rider was told he would be made available for loan next season.

Korneliussen has represented the Robins since 2005, during which time he confirmed himself as a huge favourite with the Blunsdon faithful.

But despite improving his average each season, it was not enough to convince Rossiter to keep Korneliussen in Swindon leathers for another year.

“It was a tough decision to let Mads go because he was very popular here,” said the Swindon chief.

“Maybe he will have a season away and then come back. He is certainly not out of our thoughts for the future.

“Obviously Mads was disappointed because he wanted to come back.

“He has been with us for three seasons and he is on the verge of big things.

“But maybe a change of scenery will allow him to kick on further.

“He will be desperate to come back now and prove us wrong for not signing him up again. We wish him well.”

Only skipper Leigh Adams and Croatian superstar Jurica Pavlic have been confirmed as Robins riders for 2009, with a further announcement expected by the club next week.

With the team points average set at 39.9 next season, the top sides have been given a little more leeway, but again it wasn’t enough to save the ever-improving Korneliussen from the chop.

Said Rosco: “The points average played a part but that was not the only reason. We just felt we wanted to go in a different direction.

“We had three or four different permutations with Mads in the team, but in the end we went a different way.

“We’re still waiting to tie up a few loose ends before announcing the team, but we are pretty much done and dusted.

“I think the fans will be pleased with the line-up for next season.

“Of course they will be disappointed to see Mads go, but hopefully we can make up for that.”
