BIRTHDAY BOY Alun Rossiter paid tribute to his trio of stars as Robins continued to dominate the Elite League with a comfortable 56-39 win over the Belle Vue Aces last night.

Captain Leigh Adams recorded paid 15, while Simon Stead (14) and Matej Zagar (paid 12) also chipped in with big totals as Swindon eased to victory - 60 years to the day since the club’s first meeting in 1949.

And team boss Rossiter hailed the riders’ consistency in racking up point after point.

“Steady looked awesome tonight and I was really pleased with what he did,” said Rossiter, who also turned 44 yesterday.

“Matty and Leigh – well, what can I say? We just keep reeling off the accolades for them and it doesn’t look like stopping.

“Matty was effortless, Leigh battled from the back a few times and his team riding was as good as ever.

“We need that sort of consistency from those guys. Steady is starting to turn it on in style now and that’s exactly what we bought him here for.”

It was Adams’ 500th appearance in Robins kevlars, and the boss was full of praise for his Aussie skipper.

“He thoroughly deserves it – all the accolades and all the applause,” said Rossiter. “Leigh’s so hungry for Swindon to win this league and what a year if we can do it this year.”

Meanwhile, Robins’ scheduled meeting at Lakeside tonight has been called off.
