ALUN Rossiter insists Croatian sensation Jurica Pavlic has regained his hunger to lead the Robins to their first top flight title in 42 years.

The youngster was back in action for Swindon on Thursday after completing a 28-day ban following his no-show at Coventry last month.

Despite a slow start to the meeting, Pavlic ended up with four points and a heat 14 victory as Rossiter’s side triumphed 56-39 over the Belle Vue Aces.

And the boss believes the reception he received from the Abbey Stadium crowd will play a big role in helping the 20-year-old slot straight back in.

“It was nice to see Pavlic back to his best,” said Rossiter.

“We knew he would be a bit race-rusty, but he’s got a new hunger back and I can see that now.

“It’s not just put on for show - he is genuinely hungry and wants to deliver now.

“It’s not good getting on his back because it will only go against the riders.

“We do need to support the riders. We’ve got to understand that he’s only young, he’s learning and we’ve got to be patient.

“We will see the best of him at Swindon - I’ve got no doubt about that.”

Pavlic won’t be competing in next Thursday’s four-team tournament at Blunsdon, but former crowd favourite Tomasz Chrzanowski will be pulling on the Robins kevlars for one more appearance.

The Polish ace will join Travis McGowan, Simon Stead and Paul Hurry in making up the Swindon squad as they go head-to-head with Reading, Oxford and Cradley Heath.

And Rossiter admits he is looking forward to catching up with Chrzanowski once more as he targets a win over their bitter local rivals.

“Tomas is back and Oxford as well - that will be a fun night won’t it!” said Swindon’s chief.

“The whole idea is for the fans to come along and just enjoy the occasion and hopefully everybody will do that.

“It will be nice to see Tomaz, and even better to see him back in Swindon colours.”
