ALUN Rossiter has revealed there is a “good chance” that Polish speedster Adrian Miedzinski will take his place in the Swindon Robins line-up next season.

The move has been mooted for some time but it was believed that any switch would be heavily dependant on whether the 24-year-old was given a wild card to the 2010 Grand Prix circuit.

But it has been announced that the four spots have gone to Freddie Lindgren, Hans Andersen, Tai Woffinden and Chris Harris, meaning Miedzinski’s schedule will not be as heavy as it might have been.

And Rossiter said of the Swindon Robins asset: “It’s no secret that we’ve been trying to talk to him and it sounds like we’ve got a good chance of signing him.

“We’ve now got to get hold of him and see what he wants to do.

“It’s been a difficult time because he’s been busy in Poland and in the play-offs.

“I’m sure he knows in his mind what he wants to do and we’ll be talking to him in the next few days.”

Rossiter is confident that Miedzinski would not pick any other Elite League club above Swindon, saying the Robins would be his first priority if he did come to England.

“If he didn’t want to come to us, I couldn’t see him going anywhere else. We would be pretty disappointed if that happened,” said Rossiter.

He added: “I think it will make him a better rider if he comes to England. There’s great potential in him and I think we all know what he can do.”

Following the BSPA conference this weekend, Rossiter and the rest of the Robins management, will now step up their efforts in recruiting riders for next year.

Robins are still waiting on a decision from Aussie speedster Troy Batchelor on whether he will return, which will in turn affect who they aim to sign.

“We’ve got half an idea of half a team but we’ve got a few spaces to fill yet,” said Rossiter.

“It’s all ifs and buts. We’re a bit reliant on the Troy (Batchelor) situation.

“But there’s no panic yet, we’re just building at the moment.”

One man who Robins will not be signing for Swindon in 2010 is Eastbourne Eagles’ promising youngster Lewis Bridger.

Swindon were interested in snapping up the 20-year-old, but he has now signed a deal with another undisclosed Elite League club, with Peterborough and Poole amongst the team names mentioned.
