SEB Alden is looking forward to getting back on the bike after a long hard winter and is determined to build on his last spell at Blunsdon.

Since ending the 2011 season at Berwick, the Swede has been back in his homeland working in the construction industry, and is looking forward to improving on an injury-hit spell at the Abbey Stadium in 2008.

The 26-year-old’s season was disrupted first by a broken heel and then a broken collarbone, but he is convinced he is capable of better this time around.

“This winter has been a very boring one for me, and I am just looking forward to getting back on the bike again,” he said.

“You realise when you have to work from 7am until 4pm every day that you have a really good life as a speedway rider, and that is something you sometimes take for granted when you have to work in construction.

“I have some good engines this year and had I have a similar set-up to what I had last year, and that worked out OK for me, so I will be hoping for more of the same this season.

“Last time at Swindon wasn’t so great for me, but I know why now, and I know I am capable of a lot better this time.

“I wasn’t as serious on my speedway as I am now, and that is the main difference.”

Alden will again be doubling up with Berwick in the Premier League, as well as riding for hometown club Masarna in the Swedish Allsvenskan, and is pleased with the way his schedule is shaping up.

“It was an easy decision to go back to Berwick. I have a good life when I am up there and there are some very good people at the club like there is at Swindon, so I am pleased with my teams for this year.

“It was easy to come back to Swindon too, and I am riding for my hometown team in Sweden which is always good to do.

“At Masarna I will be riding with Linus Sundstrom and Antonio Lindback, which I am sure will help me.”
