THIRTEEN Swindon Dolphin members posted regional qualifying times when a group of 28 swimmers took part in the Swim Bournemouth Level Two Winter Open Meet.

For most, the meet would signal the end of the first training cycle of the season and a chance to put into practice their technique and racing skills developed since September.

With a large contingent from Poole and host club Bournemouth, it was also an excellent opportunity to benchmark the Swindon swimmers’ ability against some high quality competition.

As well as the 13 swimmers who clocked regional qualifying times, a further six gained regional consideration times.

Personal best swims also came in abundance, with Morgan Wollen and Ethan Fowler both making a clean sweep of lifetime bests in their events.

Fowler was delighted to drop below the 26-second mark in the 50m freestyle in a regional qualifying time of 25.97 seconds, whilst team-mate William Davies dipped under the two-minute mark in the 200m freestyle, with his 1min 59.23secs time also earning him a regional consideration time.

Topping the regional qualifying tally were Henry Rideout, Emilie Gulliver and Lucy Adamson, each with six qualifying times. Erin Henly bagged five and Megan Adamson had four.

Also securing their place at the Summer Championships were Catlin Gulliver, Denice Gardo, Harrison Crook, James Hawkins, Lauren Matthews, Lucas Pearcey and Lyra Sheppard.

Other swimmers to achieving regional consideration times were Cathy Naus, Mackenzie Jeffery, Oscar Pearcey, Regan Jefferies and Tyler Hillier.
