SWINDON Town head coach Luke Williams says there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Luton Town.

With nine days having passed since their last fixture, Williams has used the time to aid the recovery of those with knocks and get some fitness work into his players on the training ground.

Midfielder Yaser Kasim, who has been absent since the defeat to Eastleigh in the FA Cup on November 15 with an ankle injury, could return in tomorrow’s Checkatrade Trophy clash, while Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who picked up an ankle injury against Bradford City, will face a late fitness test.

“There are no extra injury concerns and some people who have been nursing niggly problems that won’t go away whilst you’re playing twice a week, hopefully now those sort of things will disappear,” said Williams.

“We think that Yaser has got a chance. We’re hoping that he comes through well today.

“Brandon is nothing too major but whether or not we chance him in the game is a decision for later on today.”

Meanwhile, Williams is pleased with the progress Jamie Sendles-White is making in his recovery from surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury but has not put a timescale on his expected return.

The defender was initially ruled out for the remainder of this campaign after sustaining the injury against Bury in September, but posted a video of himself doing weight training over the weekend and Williams says the player’s spirits are high.

“He is where you would expect him to be. It is agonising of Jamie. I saw him walking in this morning, he is walking slowly,” said Williams.

“The last time I saw him walk down that corridor, he had a full knee brace on and crutches and couldn’t put any weight through the foot.

“In that short space of time, to be able to weight bear and to be able to walk without crutches or a brace is huge progress and now he just needs to continue on that path and try not to put timescales on it because you get disappointed.

“Players get a lot of criticism for everything, really, and whilst we are all grateful to be in the game we love, these sort of things are incredibly challenging for anyone, especially for somebody so young who is out of contract in the summer.

“He is doing brilliantly well and we’ll all try and support him because he has earned that from us.”
