MICHAEL Timlin has warned his Town teammates Tuesday’s victory will count for nothing unless they follow it up with another three points against fellow strugglers Hereford United this weekend.

The 3-0 home win over Southend gave Swindon their first win in six attempts, edging them just out of danger in the process.

But, with relegation rivals Hereford coming to the County Ground on Saturday, Timlin insists it is vital they record back-to-back wins for only the second time this season.

The midfielder, pictured right, admitted: “We know if we can get a few consecutive wins then it will push us up the table straight away.

“We’ve laid a good base (against Southend) and we now have to make sure that we can take it into Saturday’s game, because it’s going to be a bigger one again.

“We were all saying to each other after the game not to get complacent or carried away with ourselves.

“It was a very good win and a very good performance, but there’s no point in doing that if we don’t follow it up with one in the next game.

“Hereford haven’t been doing too well themselves and will be looking to come here and put in a good performance.”

At times on Tuesday night Town’s football was a joy to behold - even drawing a series of “Ole’s” from the County Ground faithful as they stroked the ball around at the end of the first half. But Timlin admits the fans may have to settle for something not quite so pleasant on the eye as they bid to battle their way - literally - away from the drop.

“The games coming up won’t be really pretty, but we’ve just got to make sure that we get the results we need,” said the former Fulham man.

“It seems like lately we’ve been doing really well and playing nice football, but without getting the results.

“So maybe we need to not play so pretty and just get the results.

“It’ll be a totally different game on Saturday. The fans may expect us to come out and pass the ball again like we did against Southend, but it might not be like that.”
