THE reds were victorious on the pitch but those behind the Orange Revolution were delighted to see a new colour making a splash in the County Ground stands on Saturday, writes JON RITSON.

The brainchild of supporter Rob Henderson, the call to don orange was a plea for those fans backing the fans consortium to make a visible' show of support.

Orange hats, t-shirts and jumpers were all in evidence at the Bristol Rovers match and it seems, this was just the start.

Swindon Town Supporters Trust chairman Paul Davis said those taking part and enquiring for more information demonstrated a clear groundswell of support.

He said: "We had 1,500 orange hats donated. We began giving them out at 1.30pm and by 2.10pm they'd all gone.

"People were coming up and asking for them and I think we could have given away two or three times that number.

"You could see others in orange items they'd bought themselves with one one guy telling me he'd bought a jumper especially and that he'd never wear it anywhere but at at the ground.

"I think it demonstrates that there is a groundswell of support and this was only the first occasion.

It will be ongoing and the message is to keep on wearing orange.

"But this initial response and showing was beyond our wildest dreams."
