LOUIS Thompson is ahead of schedule in his recovery from shoulder injury, but is not confident of a return before the end of the season.

The midfielder injured his shoulder aerial challenge at Crewe at the end of February and was initially ruled out until the end of the season.

Speaking to BBC Wiltshire before Town’s 1-0 over Peterborough on Saturday, Thompson continued to cast shade on the likelihood of him appearing in a Swindon shirt again.

However in more positive news for Thompson personally his rehab is going well. He is also enjoying seeing both of his clubs coming toward the end of the campaign with promotion hopes very much alive.

“Rehab is going well, I’m ahead of schedule at the minute,” said Thompson.

“I’ve just got to keep on pressing on in the gym and putting me through my paces.

“Paul Godfrey is looking after me very well and Norwich are happy with the progress that I’m making.

“I think Orient (final match of the regular season) is a bit of stretch for me if I’m honest with you and myself as well. I’m working very hard, I won’t stop until I’m back fit so we’ll see when that will be.

“It would be a dream for me for both teams to go up, that’s what I’m looking for. Swindon’s my main priority at the minute, I think Norwich are taking care of themselves.”

Thompson also hinted he would be unlikely to play half fit, even if it meant taking part in the play-offs for Swindon, for risk of doing himself further damage.

“I’ve got to look at that in the long run as well. We’ve got a capable enough squad here that I don’t need to push myself too quickly,” he added.
