REPORTED Swindon Town target Christian Ribeiro has committed his future to League Two Exeter City after signing a new deal with the Grecians.

Twice-capped Wales defender Ribeiro had been apparently linked with both Town and Championship side Birmingham City, but will stay on with Paul Tisdale's men.

Grecians player of the season Ribeiro told the Exeter's Express & Echo: “I always said to Paul Tisdale that we would speak throughout the summer and make sure we kept in contact and that’s exactly what happened.

“I always remembered how much I enjoyed last year, with all the support and everything, it’s just something you don’t forget. Making sure that the club’s ambitions were in line with mine was all I needed to know and that’s exactly what we are.

“We are looking for promotion and to get up the leagues. That’s exactly where I am and exactly where Exeter City are so we want to help each other.

He added: “There were opportunities to go elsewhere and I’m really grateful that those opportunities came about but I felt, at this point, Exeter City is the right place for me.

“I really enjoyed it there and that swung my decision. Obviously, of course, we’re all looking to move up the leagues and I spoke with lots of different clubs in lots of different leagues but Exeter always stood out for me.''
